Because life happens
Have you ever walked into a room where a big argument just happened? Have you ever felt the anxiety in an airport? How about the frustration at the DMV? Have you ever said “I guess you had to be there” when trying to explain something funny? Have you ever had a thought about someone for the first time in a long time, and suddenly they’ve called?
While many of us have these experiences, most of us don’t give them a second thought – or more accurately, a second “feel”.
Others of us – especially children, and the adults among us who struggle with depression and anxiety – feel it acutely, but assume ownership for all of it, not realizing that part of what they’re feeling might belong to someone else.
The result is often a chaotic mess of so much energy that we don’t know whose is whose. But with enough care and attention, we can learn to distinguish between what’s ours and what’s someone else’s, set boundaries around how much to take on, and learn from the wisdom that’s held in our bodies and in the invisible space between them.
If even our mundane, every-day lives can be so impacted by the energy fields of ourselves and others, what happens on a traumatic day?
The truth is that when we are traumatized, we not only continue to hold the images, sounds, body sensations and emotions associated with the event, but we have the energy imprint of it too – our own, the energies of any others who were traumatized along with us, and crucially, the energies of those doing the traumatizing.
It is vital, therefore, that treatment of trauma attends to the energetic damage that was done, as well as to the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual toll that was taken on our beings when whatever happened, happened.
Some conceptualizations suggest that all of our collective energies – the energy that lives in the space between us and above us – contains information and knowledge that we can tap into if we choose. We may call this access to the collective consciousness our “inner knowing”, or our highest, best or wisest self.
We may also believe we can tap into the help and wisdom of unseen beings – however we conceptualize them – to receive guidance, healing and comfort when things feel beyond our grasp.
Whatever our worldview or spiritual perspective, Jane believes we can use all the help we can get, and that it never hurts to ask.
Most people have heard of Energy Healing, which is practiced by physical healers across the world, including nurses, acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, cranial sacral practitioners and intuitives.
Energy Psychology is a collection of energy healing practices used by psychotherapists and coaches, and is designed to improve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
Healing practices are unique in that they manage to be gentle and highly effective with very few (if any) adverse effects, and work in a short amount of time. They can be used as standalone techniques, or blended with other, more traditional forms of therapy, coaching and medical care.
More information on the practice and empirical validity of Energy Psychology can be found at www.energypsych.org.
Energy Psychology approaches are empirically validated and are especially effective in the treatment of trauma.
Ask & Receive® is Jane’s favorite Energy Psychology practice, which starts by identifying a desired intention. Intentions may range from being able to feel calm and at peace in one’s body (instead of riddled with anxiety, for example) to being able to find a new job, have a better relationship, or even to sleep soundly through the night.
Once the intention is established, Jane uses a combination of a muscle-testing and body-sensation approach to identify the blocks that are standing in the way. Often those blocks are limiting beliefs that have been with us since we were small. Others are unhealed traumas, or reactions to unhealed traumas that we developed to keep ourselves safe.
Once a trauma or limiting belief is identified, the Ask & Receive practice uses a series of healing and empowerment scripts to clear it, moving through any adverse experiences that have kept us from fully living into our intention.
Depending on the nature of the trauma identified, Jane may also incorporate tapping and EMDR where necessary. Work continues until all the blocks are cleared and the client can fully “own” their intention. The practice is not only highly efficient, but clears traumas gently and without any need to “re-live” what happened. By the end of the session, clients report feeling empowered and at peace with themselves.
Ask & Receive was created by Tom Altaffer and Sandi Radomski. More information can be found at askandreceive.org.
Did you know that “Abracadabra” is Aramaic for “I create through speaking“?
Spiritual traditions throughout the ages have used the power of words to call healing into into being. Logosynthesis® taps into this age-old wisdom and combines it with elements of psychoanalysis, hypnotherapy, EMDR and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to synthesize, integrate and update the body’s systems and energy flow. A series of carefully focused sentences are used to resolve disturbing memories, fears, limiting beliefs and even physical issues such as allergies, jet-lag or altitude sickness, releasing stuck energy and returning it to its rightful place and time.
Logosynthesis was created by Dr Willem Lammers. More information is available at www.logosynthesis.net.
